A tender sedum, it’s usually grown as a houseplant on a windowsill out of direct sunlight. The sedum varieties, including Autumn Joy, can occasionally be bothered by certain pests. Sedum morganianum ‘Burrito’, or donkey’s tail, has tails of trailing succulent leaves and pink, star-shaped flowers in summer. For the most part, absolutely trouble-free - aphids may be a problem if it is grown in shadier conditions.You can remove dead or diseased plant material at any time. Be careful not to damage side buds and remove only the vertical, taller plant material. Remove stems by to force horizontal growth. This will delay flowering but will form a more compact succulent. ![]() The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM). For taller species, cut them back in May to early June for a bushier plant. In colder regions, it needs protection from winter frosts.
